Making Soccer Kicks Better: A Study in Particle Swarm Optimization Namrata Khemka Computer simulation is a useful tool for investigating mathematical models of human muscle movement. These, in turn, can be used to help design equipment for sports activities. One biomechanics example is the simulation of a high-speed soccer kick. We used an evolutionary algorithm, based on a particle swarm optimizer, to adjust muscle control parameters for a soccer kick. In this paper we describe our implementation of the soccer kick project, followed by our successful experiments performed with the soccer kick.
