- 21 January 2016 - Prof Michael O'Neill has received a 2016 Failte Ireland Conference Ambassador Award in recognition for attracting and hosting the ACM GECCO 2011 conference in Dublin, which attracted over 600 delegates from 52 countries.
- 5 January 2016 - NCRA researchers have been nominated for two best paper awards (EuroGP and EvoApps) at this years EvoStar event. A total of nine papers will be presented by the group at the event held in Porto, Portugal at the end of March.
- 18 December 2016 - We held the 6th Natural Computing Research & Applications Workshop today with presentations on a range of topics from Genetic Programming for Sports Analytics and Clinical Trial Optimisation to semantics and program traces.
- 4 November 2015 - Prof Michael O'Neill was recently interviewed about "Natural Computing & Smart Business Systems" for the UCD College of Business - Faculty Insight Series.
- 5 October 2015 - We've moved! The UCD Natural Computing Research & Applications Group is now based in the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, Carysfort Avenue, Blackrock.
- 25 May 2015 - NCRA researchers are presenting their latest findings at the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation in Sendai, Japan this week. Papers on topics such as "Load Balancing in Heterogeneous Networks using Grammatical Evolution", "A Genetic Programming Approach for Delta Hedging", "Guidelines for defining benchmark problems in Genetic Programming", "Tonality Driven Piano Compositions with Grammatical Evolution", "Realised Volatility Forecasting: A Genetic Programming Approach" and "Deep Evolution of Feature Representations for Handwritten Digit Recognition" will be presented.
- 21 May 2015 - UCD Centre for Business Analytics are now accepting applications for 2 ICON Doctoral Scholarships to start September 2015.
- 20 March 2015 - "Information Propagation in a Social Network: The Case of a Fish Schooling Algorithm" has been published in a new book published by Springer Propagation Phenomena in Real World Networks.
- 17 March 2015 - Prof Michael O'Neill gave a presentation on "Making sense of the big data generated" as part of an event on Re-engineering Clinical Trials - Developing new therapies in a connected world. The event was jointly hosted by Enterprise Ireland and ICON Plc on St Patrick's Day in Heidelberg, Germany. In attendance were Minister Simon Harris, the Irish Ambassador to Germany Michael Collins, and representatives from the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device sectors..
